Week 6

Last week we were visiting our site in London… a nice trip all around accept for the fact that I left my umbrella with Cosita. Also, I discovered that the British deal with snow about as well as Texans… which is not very well at all… except that they talk about it in a much more sophisticated fashion. Man, I’m really tired.

Cosita is my Mentor

Week 5

This week I attended a lecture discussion between Peter Eisenman and Rafael Moneo. It was interesting. One of Eisenman’s comments to a questioner was that education today was different than it was in his day… mainly because no one mentored anyone anymore… which made me wonder why our elders were failing us. I’m lucky, I’ve had good mentors so far. Next week London for studio. Jolly good!

Too Much Time in the Bathroom

Week 4

This week I was sick… not sure if it was the flu or some bad soup. Needless to say, I’ll never feel the same about butternut squash soup again. Vomit is my least favorite bodily excretion.

School is well… got all of the classes that I wanted… another semester of variety!

Seduction Time

Week 3

This weekend I attended a Symposium entitled “Seduction”. Apparently, only things that are curvaseous are seductive. Not only that, only things that are developed in Maya are seductive.

The other “Seductive” event of the weekend was the demolition of the New Haven Coliseum… which I witnessed at 7:45 on Saturday morning. It was a Coliseum-like atmosphere, I couldn’t help but think of ancient Rome and the rabble… crying for blood and the kill.

Just Layin’ Around

Week 2

School has started and we are in the shopping period again… not much else going on. In an interesting twist of fate, my new studio is in the same location as my old studio… so I got to keep my old desk. Which is good… I fear change.

Raise your Hand if you’re Thankful for Cosita

Week 1

Happy New Years Everyone,

Hello Cosita-philes… sorry that my blogging took a real hit after Thanksgiving… school will do that to you. Yeah, I know that y’all were all on the edge of your seats. Anyway, 1st Semester was good… I didn’t pull things together as well as I would have liked, so that leaves some room for improvement in the Spring.

Oh yeah, if I see another god-damned dia-grid project I’m going to take a hostage.

Under Cover

Week 10

God damn it… I am so fucking sick of hearing that stupid John Mellancamp Chevrolet song during commercials on Sunday nite football (a.k.a. blogging time). I’m certain that Rosa Parks (featured prominently on the commercial as a “value” characterization) didn’t give a damn for gas-guzzling SUV’s or the “Man” (that is… Chevrolet executives) who were in most likely the dudes keeping her down. Fuck them, fuck Chevrolet, and fuck John Mellancamp. Time for another commercial break… arghhhhhh!

School is going well. I should be working but I’m blogging instead… hiding under the covers… so to speak.

World Series Cat

Week 9

This is Cosita’s favorite spot for sports viewing. Typically, she roots for the cat teams… such as the ill-fated Detroit Tigers during the World Series.

School is going well… we’re doing Decon this week… sigh… ahhhhh, Decon… it’s like a hangover after drinking too much cheap beer.

Week 8

This weekend I attended a Symposium on Building in the Future… pretty scary stuff. Production determinism is a Vampire that will feed off the souls of young architects. Parametric Design is the new Frankenstein. My only question is, where is the Wolfman? Damn, I miss Warren Zevon.

Mmmm… sleep

Week 7

Yes, sleep is good. I did a bit of it with my little nap buddy.

A word of advice… never change your project around the week before the midterm. Oh well, live and learn. It wasn’t that bad. The buzzword of the review was lifestyle design… God, I couldn’t help but think of condoms the whole time. Gotta work that into my project.
